Hooray For Hollywood! A New Earffel Tower Water Bottle Has Arrived
The Disney-MGM Studios of 1989 is almost unrecognizable when you visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios today. Long gone are the park’s commitment to the Golden Age of Hollywood, its signature Backlot Tour, and even its original thesis attraction—The Great Movie Ride. In fact, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the only Disney Park with none of its opening-day attractions still operating.
Needless to say, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has undergone numerous changes over the past 35 years. Sadly, the park also lost its original icon.
From May 1, 1989, through April 29, 2016, the Earffel Tower loomed large over Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Inspired by the water tower located at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, the iconic structure stood 130 feet tall. It was the visual centerpiece of the park alongside Garuman’s Chinese Theatre.
Even with the addition of the Sorcerer’s Hat to the end of Hollywood Boulevard in 2001, the Earffel Tower remained a fan-favorite sight, reminding guests of the original promise of the Disney-MGM Studios.
Unfortunately, the Earffel Tower was removed in 2016 to make way for Toy Story Land.
If you have fond memories of the former park icon, however, I have great news!
A New Earfell Tower Water Bottle?!
A new Earffel Tower water bottle has arrived at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, featuring the icon as it stood for 27 years.
The metallic water bottle features the Hollywood Studios version of the Earffel Tower, with the park’s updated name on the front.
As you can see, the golden color scheme gives the water bottle a hint of the Hollywood glitz and glamor that once defined Hollywood Studios.
Here is a closer look at the water tower.
While Magic Kingdom and EPCOT often embrace their history, capitalizing on the nostalgia of fans who grew up going to the parks, Hollywood Studios has always seemed more interested in running away from its past.
It’s great to see The Earffel Tower get some recognition again.
