PHOTOS: New Dedication Plaque Arrives at EPCOT
A beautiful new dedication plaque has been installed at the entrance to EPCOT, offering a hopeful and inspiring insight into the meaning behind this park we all know and love.
It’s a beautiful November day and we simply had to stop and admire the sign as we were passing. Come with us, and let’s take a closer look together!
EPCOT for All
Just before you head through the turnstiles at EPCOT you’ll see this brand-new sign, which looks ever-so photogenic here with Spaceship Earth right behind it.
The gold-edged plaque is shining against a sleek black and blue sign, with the iconic EPCOT logo printed in shimmering silver beneath.
It’s rather eye-catching, especially thanks to the cloud of festive poinsettias currently planted at the foot of the sign.
You really can tell that the holiday season is upon us at EPCOT!
Now, let’s look closer at this stunning dedication plaque itself!
Laid in honor of the dedication made by Esmond Cardon “Card” Walker, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Walt Disney Productions, the date on this piece of history reads October 24, 1982.
Just after EPCOT officially opened on October 1st!
With the traditional “Epcot” logo printed above, let’s read what this plaque says:
“To all who come to this Place of Joy, Hope and Friendship
Welcome
Epcot is inspired by Walt Disney’s creative vision. Here, human achievements are celebrated through imagination, wonders of enterprise and concepts of a future that promises new and exciting benefits for all.
May EPCOT Center entertain, inform and inspire and above all, may it instill a new sense of belief and pride in man’s ability to shape a world that offers hope to people everywhere.”
How touching is that? We love to see it!
