Disneyland Submits Initial Plan for the Avengers Campus Expansion
This year’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event was packed with exciting announcements for Disney Parks. (You can check out the full list here.)
A handful of exciting reveals were provided for the Disneyland Resort–a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic, a new Avatar-themed land, a Coco attraction, and new information about the Avengers Campus expansion…including a new attraction. And the very first steps have been taken to begin construction on Avengers Campus–let’s take a look.
Avengers Campus Expansion
According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland has submitted its prep work plan for the Avengers Campus expansion! In case you missed it, this expansion includes Avengers Infinity Defense–an attraction we’ve known about for years–and a Stark Flight Lab attraction.
The plan, which was submitted to the city of Anaheim, maps out the utilities, trailers, and parking lots that would be impacted by the project. This is a procedural step that must occur before the city may grant Disneyland a demolition permit, and before Disneyland may submit plans for the actual expansion.
Construction is set to begin next year, 2025, and will double the size of Avengers Campus. (This project is not related to the $1.9 billion Disneyland Forward expansion.)
In case you need the refresher, the Avengers Infinity Defense attraction immerses guests in a timeline where Thanos–now known as King Thanos–has won. Using Wakandan tech, guests will travel across the universe to defeat King Thanos.
The newly-announced Stark Flight Lab attraction will take guests inside Tony Stark’s lab, where they’ll be whirled through the air by a robotic arm. (Of course, Tony Stark will make an appearance in the attraction.)
We’re excited to see these initial steps taken for the expansion! We’ll update you when more information is released about the project, so stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com for the latest!
