WATCH: Stitch Causes Havoc in New ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Teaser Trailer
Disney is getting the ohana back together for next year’s live-action Lilo & Stitch. The long-anticipated remake of the classic Disney animated film is finally set to hit theaters on May 23, 2025, after a series of production setbacks.
Originally announced in 2018, Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch was initially intended to be released on Disney+ in 2024. After deciding to give the film a theatrical release, however, Disney pushed back its premiere date to 2025.
What Fans Can Expect From ‘Lilo & Stitch’
True to the original animated film, the live-action Lilo & Stitch will tell the story of “the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who is engineered to be a force of destruction. Pursuing aliens, social workers, and the idea of the bond of a family figure into the proceedings.”
The film is set to star Maia, Kealoha, Maia Kealoha, Zach Galifianakis, and Billy Magnussen. Chris Sanders will also reprise his role as the voice of Stitch in the film.
“Again, it’s a story about connection and a kid trying to find a friend, and all you can do is approach a project like that with love. I am so grateful and honored to be a part of that project,” Magnussen told GamesRadar earlier this year.
A New Trailer Has Arrived!
Just days after releasing a new poster for Lilo & Stitch, Disney unveiled the first teaser trailer.
In the brief clip, Stitch causes havoc on a collection of sand castles, including one shaped like Cinderella Castle.
