Hubie Brown to Call One Last Game For ESPN Before Retiring
NBA Legend Hubie Brown is retiring from the broadcast boost after this season, but ESPN wants to make sure the luminary gets one more shot.
During a recent appearance on the SI Media with Jimmy Traina podcast, ESPN president Burke Magnus lauded Brown and discussed the importance of letting Hubie go out on top.

“We are going to give Hubie one last shot on a game,” he said. “He deserves that. We think the world of him. I think it’s absolutely remarkable the level he still calls games at age 90-plus.”
An NBA Legend
Hubie Brown has been involved in basketball since 1958, becoming one of the most respected figures in the sport. Brown joined ESPN in 2004 as a broadcaster after coaching the Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, and Memphis Grizzlies.
While Magnus did not reveal when Brown would call his final game, he confirmed that the network would have a real celebration for Brown’s swan song.

“I don’t mean to be purposely mysterious here, but we’re going to honor Hubie this year during the regular season at some point to be determined and send him off in style,” Magnus revealed. “I don’t think there’s a single human being who’s ever had a longer association with professional basketball.”
Brown Has Not Called a Game This Year
So far this season, Brown has yet to call a game due to a string of personal tragedies. In June, Brown’s wife Clair passed away. Then, two weeks ago, his son Brendan, who was an assistant coach with the Grizzlies and broadcaster for the Knicks, passed away at the age of 54.

Hopefully, we will learn more about Brown’s final game, and the legend will receive the recognition he so richly deserves.
