Disney VoluntEARS Bring Holiday Cheer to Veterans and Their Families at the Orlando Fisher Home
As part of National Veterans and Military Families Month and in celebration of the holiday season, Disney VoluntEARS visited the Orlando Fisher House recently to continue their annual tradition of bringing holiday magic to those in need.
Disney’s partnership with the Orlando Fisher House began in 2019 when Disney SALUTE (a veteran employee resource group) delivered Walt Disney World decorations to the home to bring extra holiday magic to veterans and their families.

In addition to Orlando, Disney is also working with Fisher Houses in Hawaii, Los Angeles, and Long Beach to spread some holiday cheer.
What Is the Orlando Fisher House?
For those who don’t know, the Orlando Fisher House is a place for veteran families in need. One of 100 homes built by the Fisher House Foundation across the country, the Orlando House offers complimentary lodging, allowing families to stay close to their loved ones while receiving medical care at a nearby hospital.

Spreading Joy Through Food
This year was particularly meaningful, as Disney teamed up with Fisher House and the Orlando VA Medical Center to open a new outdoor kitchen!

Disney provided the funding to renovate the new social grill, which will serve as a place where families can come together while supporting their veteran family members receiving care. To christen the new area, Disney chefs served up a delicious lunch!
“It is always a magical day when Disney comes to our Fisher House to spread some Holiday cheer for our guests,” said George Denby, General Manager of Orlando Fisher House.
“We are grateful for their generous donation to renovate our outdoor kitchen; this will allow our families to spend more time together and enjoy delicious meals.”
