Walt Disney Imagineering Brings Home Three 2025 Thea Awards
Walt Disney Imagineering is celebrating after receiving three 2025 Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) Thea Awards.
As the gold standard in theme park design, it is perhaps unsurprising that Imagineering is a perennial winner at the Thea Awards. Still, anytime an industry recognizes the achievements of the men and women who make Disney magic a reality, it is time to celebrate!
“Imagineers around the world continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in immersive storytelling, delivering unique experiences and memorable character moments in ways that only Disney can,” said Bruce Vaughn, president and chief creative officer of Walt Disney Imagineering.
“I’m so proud of the Imagineers and Cast Members recognized today for their outstanding contributions to our work and the broader themed entertainment industry.”
Let’s take a closer look at the three awards that Disney took home.
Thea Ward For Outstand Achievement – Theme Park Land
Walt Disney Imagineering won two awards for Outstanding Achievement – Theme Park Land.
The first went to Fantasy Springs, which opened this year in Tokyo DisneySea.

The new land brings beloved Disney stories to life through detailed design, immersive environments, and cutting-edge technology. Fantasy Springs features three themed areas inspired by Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan and has been a hit with fans since opening!
Also taking home an Outstanding Achievement – Theme Park Land was Zootopia at Shanghai Disneyland, the first theme park land dedicated to the world of Disney’s Zootopia.

The immaculately themed land immerses guests inside one of Disney’s most iconic locations, bringing the characters and city to life like never before.
Outstanding Achievement — Technical Innovation
Finally, Disney took home the Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement — Technical Innovation in 2025 for the BDX Droids, which debuted at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge earlier this year.
Developed by Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development and Disney Live Entertainment, the BDX Droids represented a breakthrough in robotic technology. The roaming robots learn to mimic movements, bringing the personality of the Star Wars droids to life!
Disney hopes to utilize these kind of character-driven interactions to pave the way for the next generation of storytelling.
In total, Disney has won nearly 70 Thea Awards over the past 30 years. Looking ahead, however, Imagineering believes that the best is yet to come!
