Disney Is Celebrating ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ With Exclusive Annual Passholder Postcard

In celebration of the release of Mufasa: The Lion King on December 20, 2024, Walt Disney World has a special surprise for Annual Passholders.

From December 8 through December 18, 2024, Passholders can get a 5″ x 7″ postcard designed by Walt Disney Imagineer Nikkolas Smith!

Here is the story behind the amazing artwork.

Nikkolas’ Disney Story

Nikkolas began his Disney career in 2008 as an intern for the Walt Disney Imagineering Architecture design group. That internship eventually led to an 11-year career at Imagineering, during which he developed concept art and construction documents for Shanghai Disneyland’s Adventure Isle and Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus.

In 2013, Nikkolas began diving headfirst into his real passion — art. After developing his digital art skills, he transitioned into a “self-employed full-time Artivist.”

For his Mufasa: The Lion King artwork, Nikkolas wanted to convey Mufasa’s determination as he heads out into the unknown. The piece, entitled “Young King,” is meant to relay the confidence and determination that would one day make Mufasa a great leader.

Having a son of his own has deepened Nikkolas’s connection to The Lion King.

“‘The Lion King’ saga is one of the greatest father-son stories of all time,” he explains.

“And yes, my son is still in a ‘Lion King’ phase, so we joyfully quote Simba and Mufasa often.”

How to Get Your Postcard

Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will be able to bring home their own copy of “Young King” beginning on December 8.

The “wild” postcard will be available at Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The postcards will be available during normal park hours while supplies last.

Make sure you have a photo ID and proof of your Annual Pass on hand!
