Disney World Bucket List for a Disney Baby
After months of anticipation and planning, my husband and I welcomed our first baby. Like many, we celebrated the journey like Disney fanatics.
We announced our pregnancy with a Disney onesie, we designed a Disney nursery, and we had a babymoon at “The Most Magical Place on Earth”. Now, I’m mentally planning his first trip.
We’re hoping to visit for his first birthday. Naturally, this will be a brand-new experience.
The days of being carefree Disney Adults are on pause. But a different kind of adventure awaits us.
As a new mama, I have a different itinerary in mind. Here are some magical things I can’t wait to experience with my little one.
First Haircut on Main Street U.S.A.
I’ve always wanted an excuse to visit the working Magic Kingdom barbershop. The Harmony Barbershop has been offering professional haircuts for years.
Now that I have a little Mouseketeer, I want his first haircut on Main Street.
The barbershop offers a variety of packages, including first haircuts. Different upgrades are available, including one with a complimentary Mickey hat.
I know I’ll be tempted to splurge on this milestone moment.
First Family Photos
Speaking of splurges, getting professional Disney photos is a must-do.
This past summer, my husband and I booked a Capture Your Moment session for my pregnancy photos. They all turned out beautifully.
Now I want family pictures in the same spot by Cinderella Castle. While Memory Maker photos are great, there was no comparison between the attention and care taken in a private session.
I know I’ll book at least one, maybe even two back-to-back sessions for our party of three.
First Picture with Mickey
My child may not remember his first trip, but I will. I’ll remember iconic moments, like meeting the big cheese himself.
I can’t wait to bring my guy to the Town Square Theater to meet Mickey Mouse. I’m sad talking Mickey is no more, but it’ll be magical nonetheless.
Whether it turns into a heartwarming moment or a hilarious story, my little guy has to meet the mouse who started it all!
First Visit Button
As someone who visits Disney World several times a year, it’s been years since I sported a First Visit button. As a new mom, I can’t wait to pin one on my little guy’s shirt.
This button will be the star of many photos. (And it’ll make a great prop for our Capture Your Moment session!)
Plus, it will make a great keepsake. Long after his name is smudged off, I’ll still smile at it.
First Character Meal
I’ve always planned at least one character meal per trip. Not only were they delicious, but they were an easy way to meet several characters.
Now that I’m a mom, that’s even more appealing. The last thing I’d want to do is wait in more queues.
For my son’s first hurrah, I plan to book at least one character meal. I’m hopeful this will be a fun, stress-free way to introduce characters into his life.
Even if it doesn’t go smoothly, Dad and I will get fed. Right?
First Baby-Friendly Rides
When I traveled to Disney World for my babymoon, I was amazed at how many rides were pregnancy-friendly. Now I’m amazed by how many attractions are baby-friendly!
I can’t wait to introduce my little guy to the joy of riding. Many of my favorites (like Peter Pan’s Flight, Minnie and Mickey’s Runaway Railway, and The Haunted Mansion) are all appropriate for lap babies.
I can only hope he’ll still love all these rides as he grows up.
First Nighttime Spectacular
My little guy may be too little, but I can’t wait for his first nighttime Disney show. With protective earwear on hand, I’m ready for my Mouseketeer to see Fantasmic!, Happily Ever After, or Luminous.
When a later bedtime is appropriate, I’ll be lining up early for a spot. (Maybe I’ll even splurge on a fireworks viewing party.)
Fireworks are already magical and coupled with perfectly timed Disney music, they are enchanting. Sounds like a perfect recipe for a core memory.
First Vacation Memories as a New Family
I have so many wonderful memories in Orlando. Trips with my parents, friends, and spouse live in my heart.
Now, I’m excited to make memories as a family of three. For the first time ever, my husband and I will share our favorite rides, meals, and experiences with a brand-new human.
Plus, on top of watching him discover the magic, we’ll watch him find his “favorites”. Which ride will he ride again and again? Which snack will he inhale? Which character will make his eyes light up with joy?
It’s all an exciting unwritten book. I can’t wait to fill the pages.
With this bucket list in hand, his first visit can’t come soon enough. Adventure is out there, and this trip will be the first of many!
