Potential Storm Being Monitored in Caribbean Could Impact Florida Next Week
Hurricane season has been a bit chaotic this year. Hurricane Milton impacted Disney World, causing damage and closures and an intense recovery effort in other parts of the state.
And, the season isn’t over yet — a potential storm is being monitored.
Potential Storm Being Monitored in Caribbean
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area in the central Caribbean that has a high chance of development over the next few days, according to WKMG. The area is called Invest 99L.
Computer models show it staying in the Caribbean through the weekend and strengthening into a storm named Sara.
A cold front will give the potential storm a lift into the Gulf of Mexico by early next week. It’s too early to narrow down the exact timing of the storm but there are two main routes the system could take.
In the first scenario, the system moves over Central America and the Yucatan peninsula through the weekend. This route would mean a weaker storm approaching Florida by the middle of next week.
In the second scenario, the system stays over the very warm waters in the western Caribbean through the weekend. This would increase the likelihood of a stronger storm moving into the Gulf as it moved toward Florida by the middle of next week.
Invest 99L has a 90% chance of development in the next two days and a tropical depression is expected to form as it moves into the western Caribbean.
The storm impacting Florida is possible and if that does happen it should be around November 20th, give or take. We will keep you updated with the latest.
