‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Finds Its Athena
With production on Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 now officially underway, the series has found its Athena.
Andra Joy will join the cast of the hit streaming series as the Goddess of Wisdom, who plays a central role in the Rick Riordan fantasy series. In addition to her position on Mount Olympus, Athena also happens to be the mother of Annabeth Chase.
Day burst onto the acting scene with her performance as Billie Holiday in the 2021 biopic The United States vs. Billie Holiday. The film earned her a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination.
Day Took to Social Media to Share Her Excitement
News of Day’s casting was revealed at D23 Brazil on Sunday. Shortly afterward, the actress took to social media to share her excitement.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the amazing cast of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ as Athena, the Greek Goddess of Wisdom. I can’t wait to bring her life and work alongside such talented actors,” Day said in a video posted to Instagram.

What We Know about ‘Percy Jackson’ Season 2
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will follow the events of the second book in the Rick Riordan series, Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters.
“Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters. There, a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon,” the upcoming season’s synopsis reads.
Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
