Disneyland Observes Veteran’s Day With a Moving Flag Retreat Ceremony
In honor of Veteran’s Day today, we here at MickeyBlog have been highlighting all of the ways that The Walt Disney Company honors and supports our veterans.
Earlier this afternoon, we brought you a report on the various Disney Cast Member veterans who now make magic happen every day. Then, we delivered an update on the Disney VoluntEARS, who packed 2,000 USO Care Kits.
Now, however, I want to turn your attention to Disneyland, where The Happiest Place on Earth observed Veteran’s Day in a unique way.
A Special Flag Retreat Ceremony
As the sun set on Disneyland Park, Cast Member veterans gathered on Main Street, U.S.A., for a special flag retreat ceremony.
Some Cast Members wore military uniforms, while others were dressed in suits or their Cast Member costumes.
Crowds on Main Street stood and applauded as the Cast Members paraded by in procession.
After the ceremony was complete, fireworks shot off from behind the Main Street buildings in celebration.
A Moving Veteran’s Day Moment
It was great to get a chance to honor the Disney Cast Member veterans at The Happiest Place on Earth.
While the flag retreat ceremony on Main Street, U.S.A., is always a poignant and moving experience, it was especially meaningful on this Veteran’s Day.
Ken Potrock, President, Disneyland Resort shared his Veterans Day thoughts on LinkedIn.
As always, be sure to check back with MickeyBlog. We will continue to update you on all the news coming out of Disneyland Resort.
