Disney Shares First Look at Live-Action ‘Lilo & Stitch’
Walt Disney Studios shared a glimpse into the future at D23 Brazil this weekend.
Among a myriad of announcements, we learned that a sixth Ice Age film is in development, Shakira will reprise her role as Gazelle in Zootopia 2, and an army of Buzz Lightyear will serve as the antagonists in Toy Story 5.
Marvel Studios, meanwhile, released trailers for both Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.
Here Comes Stitch!
Amid all the hoopla, Disney also shared a first look at the live-action Lilo & Stitch, which will crash into theaters next May.
“Experiment 626 has entered the chat! The live-action #LiloAndStitch is coming only to theaters in Summer 2025!” Disney teased on Instagram.
A live-action Lilo & Stitch was originally announced in 2018 as a Disney+ project. At the time, Disney expected the film to be released in 2024. After the decision was made to give the film a theatrical release, the film’s debut was pushed to 2025.

Lilo & Stitch will star Maia Kealoha, Zach Galifianakis, and Billy Magnussen. The film tells the story of “the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who is engineered to be a force of destruction. Pursuing aliens, social workers, and the idea of the bond of a family figure into the proceedings.”
“Again, it’s a story about connection and a kid trying to find a friend, and all you can do is approach a project like that with love. I am so grateful and honored to be a part of that project,” Magnussen told GamesRadar earlier this year.
Lilo & Stitch will hit theaters on May 23, 2025.
