WATCH: Marvel Shares New Footage From ‘Thunderbolts*’ at D23 Brazil
A new type of team will assemble in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) when Thunderbolts* lands in theaters on May 2, 2025.
Under the watchful eye of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia-Louis Dreyfus), the Thunderbolts will form, bringing together a collection of former villains and anti-heroes.
More specifically, the new team will be comprised of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and U.S. Agent ( Wyatt Russell).
The first Thunderbolts* trailer focused on Yelena’s mental state and her relationship with her “father” Alexi.
“There is something wrong with me. An emptiness. I’m just drifting, and I don’t have a purpose,” Yelena explains as images of John Walker and Bucky Barnes flash on the screen. “I thought throwing myself into work was the answer.”
Marvel Debuts New Footage
At D23 Brazil this weekend, Marvel shared new footage from Thunderbolts* that focuses on the team’s formation and the interpersonal conflicts between its members.
The clip begins with Taskmasker, U.S. Agent, Red Guardian, and Yelena being changed by three military vehicles. The group is relieved when Bucky Barnes appears and easily dismantles the convoy. As it turns out, however, they are his real target.
Later, the Thunderbolts assemble in Avengers Tower, where Valentina has called them together.
Individual footage of each team member is then shown before the mysterious Bob is introduced.
“We can’t escape the past,” Yelena says.
“So you can either do something about it now, or live in it forever,” Bucky responds.
