Disney Shares a Preview of the Trackless ‘Cars’ Attraction Coming to Magic Kingdom
At D23: The Ultimate Fan Event last August, Disney announced that a new Cars land was coming to the Magic Kingdom.
As opposed to creating an East Coast version of Radiator Springs, Disney will integrate the Cars IP into Frontierland, replacing the area currently comprised of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island.
“The American West has always been about keeping your eyes on the horizon … believing in yourself, carving your own path, and striving toward success. That goes for miners in the mountains, bears from the country, a princess from the bayou … or a racecar from the big city,” Josh told the crowd.
Two New ‘Cars’ Attractions Are on the Way
At the time, Disney announced that two new Cars attractions would debut in the new land. The headline attraction will be a “thrilling rally race through the mountains.” On this high-speed adventure, guests will climb mountain trails, dodge geysers, and splash through mudholes.
Since the initial announcement, new details on the upcoming Cars attractions have been few and far between.
Disney Previews Trackless Ride System For High-Speed ‘Cars’ Ride
However, today, at D23 Brazil, Josh D’Amaro gave fans a glimpse at what to expect from the new attraction.
In the new video, fans finally got to see what kind of attraction the new Cars ride will be. From the looks of it, the attraction will use a trackless, all-terrain ride system.

This would differentiate the upcoming Cars-themed attraction from Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure, which uses a traditional track.
