‘Mickey’s Christmas Carol’ Dioramas Return to Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom
The holiday season will officially kick off today at Walt Disney World, and we here at MickeyBlog could not be more excited!
With just hours to go until the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of 2024, we continue to see the resort come to life with festive fun and holiday cheer.
Earlier today, we brought the exciting news that the gingerbread display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is open for business! Now, however, I want to turn your attention to Magic Kingdom, where a fan-favorite Christmas tradition has returned!
When we visited Magic Kingdom yesterday, we were thrilled to see that many of the Main Street, U.S.A. Christmas window displays had been installed!
While the Emporium windows received a vignette showing Huey, Dewey, and Louie getting ready for the holidays, the Mickey Christmas Carol displays were noticeably missing.
Well, it is my pleasure to announce that the iconic window displays have returned! Let’s take a closer look!
‘Mickey’s Christmas Carol’
As a quick reminder, Mickey’s Christmas Carol was released in 1983 and is an animated retelling of Charles Dickens’s classic A Christmas Carol.
The film stars Scrooge McDuck and the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge alongside an eclectic cast of Disney characters. It is truly a great film!
The Dioramas Tell a Story
Our story begins with the scene of Donald delivering a Christmas wreath to his uncle, Scrooge. Mickey (as Bob Cratchit) is working at his desk with a quill.
A book in the display describes the scene.
The next window depicts the scene in which Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his partner, Joseph Marley (played by Goofy).
At first, Scrooge does not heed his warning.
After being warned by his former partner to change his ways, Scrooge is visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past (Jiminy Cricket).
The specter transports Scrooge to the past, where he relives a moment with his former love, Isabelle (Daisy). Huey, Dewey, and Louie are also present in the scene decorating a Christmas tree.
If you look closely, you can even spot Grandma Duck and Mr. Toad!
The next window depicts the moment Scrooge is visited by the Ghost of Christmas Present (played by Willie the Giant).
Once again, a book featured in the forefront of the window tells the story.
After the benevolent visits of the Ghost of Christmas Past and Present, Scrooge faces the Ghost of Christmas Future (Pete).
The terrifying specter taunts Scrooge with his own grave. Scrooge finally changes his heart and realizes the error of his ways.
The last window shows the film’s finale, where Scrooge has turned over a new leaf and celebrates Christmas with the Cratchit family.
“And God bless us, everyone!” Tiny Tim happily declares.
