Shakira Is Returning For ‘Zootopia 2’ and Promising New Music
D23 Brazil kicked off with a bang today with an exciting update on Zootopia 2.
As a quick recap, Zootopia 2 was announced last August and will reunite audiences with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. In the film, they “find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down.”
“To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before,” the synopsis continues.
As it turns out, Nick and Judy are not the only familiar faces in Zootopia 2.
Shakira Will Reprise Her Role As Gazelle
Colombian superstar Shakira appeared via video at D23 Brazil to announce that she will be reprising her role as Gazelle in the upcoming sequel.
“I’m here to announce some big news. Are you ready? Gazelle is returning to ‘Zootopia 2,’” she said in the video.

“That’s right. Gazelle is back and she’s got a new look, a new song and, of course, new dance moves. Just wait until you see what she and her tiger dancers have been working on. I know you’re going to love it. That’s all I can share for now, but I look forward to seeing you all on my tour next year and I’ll see you at the movies next November.”
In addition to lending her voice to Gazelle, Shakira also performed the hit song “Try Everything” in Zootopia.
From the sounds of things, the superstar’s music will also play an important role in the upcoming sequel.
Zootopia 2 will hit theaters on November 26, 2025.
