Fans Can Meet Disney Legend Tony Baxter in Old Sacramento

Walt Disney Imagineering legend Tony Baxter is coming to the Stage Nine Entertainment Store in Old Sacramento on Saturday, November 9, for a special one-day public event.

One of the most influential and consequential imagineers of all time, Baxter is responsible for bringing some of Disney’s most iconic attractions to life.

“We are excited to announce our next special event at the Underground Vault!  If you’ve been to a Disney Park in the past 50 years you’ve been impacted by Tony Baxter,” Stage Nine said.

Tony Baxter’s Legendary Career

After joining WED Enterprises in 1970, Baxter traveled to Walt Disney World to serve as art director for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at the Magic Kingdom. From there, he was off to the races.

Over the next 53 years, Baxter would bring Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, EPCOT Center’s Journey Into Imagination pavilion, Splash Mountain, Star Tours, Indiana Jones Adventure, and the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage restoration. Baxter also served as executive producer of Disneyland Paris.

In 2013, Baxter retired from Walt Disney Imagineering and was officially named a Disney Legend.

How to Meet Tony

Now, fans will have the chance to meet Tony at the Stage Nine Entertainment Store.

The event will occur at The Underground Vault at Stage Nine from 11 AM to 4 PM. In addition to meeting with fans, Tony will also be able to sign prints, lithographs, and posters of his artwork. According to Stage Nine, “a number of prized props from the Disneyland attractions Baxter worked on will be available for purchase by enthusiasts looking to add to their collections.”
