Blizzard Beach Reopens After Six-Month Refurbishment; Typhoon Lagoon Closes
Once upon a time, not so very long ago, Walt Disney World operated three water parks simultaneously.
Guests visiting the Vacation Kingdom often had the opportunity to choose between Disney’s River Country, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, and Disney’s Blizzard Beach.
With the closure of River Country in 2001, Disney World was down to two water parks. Guests visiting the resort these days, however, would never know it.
Disney World’s Water Park Carousel
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Walt Disney World has consistently operated one water park at a time. Essentially, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is open for six months of the year, while Blizzard Beach is refurbished.
When Blizzard Beach reopens, Typhoon Lagoon closes. It is the Disney water park circle of life.
Blizzard Beach Has Reopened
Today, Disney’s Blizzard Beach has officially reopened after a six-month refurbishment. The water park closed on March 17, 2024.
The Ice Gator is once again welcoming guests to his Florida ski resort, meaning guests can now take the plunge on Summit Plummet, race down Runoff Rapids, or travel as a family aboard Teamboat Springs.
As you can see, the water park looks refreshed and new.
Let’s go inside, shall we?
The Water Park Looks Great
On a sunny Florida day in November, there is nothing better than a trip to Blizzard Beach.
The park’s ski lift is again running, taking guests to Summit Plummet.
While Blizzard Beach is known for its water slides, my favorite “attraction” remains the lazy river!
I mean, how relaxing does this look?!
Young guests are also able to enjoy TiSumke’s Peak again.
The Frozen-themed area continues to be a hit!
There is even a scavenger hunt available.
With Summit Plummet looming, many guests were enjoying some fun in the sun in the park’s wave pool.
There is no better place to relax than Blizzard Beach.
Who doesn’t love a sandy beach!
Check Out the Merch!
In addition to receiving a general refurbishment, Blizzard Beach has also gotten a new collection of merchandise at Beach Haus.
Check out the amazing new spirit jersey! You can also get a refillable mug, though the price has gone up $1.00.
Some of the signs, however, still have the old price.
Typhoon Lagoon Has Closed
With Blizzard Beach now open, Typhoon Lagoon has officially closed for refurbishment.
We will likely see the later park reopen in March 2025 and Blizzard Beach close again.
