The NFL Is Coming to Springfield For ‘The Simpsons Funday Football’
Following the success of last year’s Toy Story Funday Football, Disney and ESPN are bringing the NFL to Springfield.
On December 9, Disney+ and ESPN+ will present The Simpsons Funday Football, an animated alternative broadcast of the matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cincinnati Bengals.
During the game, Bart Simpson will suit up for the Bengals, while Homer will play the Cowboys. Marge and Lisa will also be on hand to interview players on the sideline, making it a true family affair. Maggie is even manning the SkyCam!
‘The Simpsons’ Stars Will Participate
Unlike Toy Story Funday Football (which took place during last year’s Hollywood strikes), the Simpsons broadcast will take place on a Monday night. Additionally, this time around, Disney will be able to utilize the Simpsons’ voice cast.
Series stars Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, and Yeardley Smith will all contribute their voices to the broadcast through prerecorded dialogue and skits.
ESPN personalities, including Stephan A. Smith, Peyton, and Eli Manning, will also be featured.
Finally, animated versions of Mina Kimes, Dan Orlovsky, and Drew Carter will announce the game live from Springfield’s Atoms Stadium!
Fans Will Watch in Real-Time
The animated broadcast will be made possible by the state-of-the-art tracking technology enabled by NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Sony’s Beyond Sports, and Sony’s Hawk-Eye Innovations’ optical tracking. Because of this cutting-edge technology, fans will not only be able to watch every snap in real-time, but they won’t even miss out on limb movements and mannerisms.
I, for one, can’t wait!
The Simpsons Funday Football will kick off Monday, December 9, at 8 PM ET.
