Mickey & Friends Will Recreate the Fantastic Fours Most Memorable Adventures in New Disney Variant Covers
Following the successful run of the Disney What If…? series that celebrated Disney100 and the Avangers/X-Men’s 60th anniversaries, Marvel and Disney are teaming up for another run of comics in 2025.
This week, Marvel Comics announced that Mickey & Friends will once again suit up for 12 new Disney What If? Variant Covers based on the adventures of the Fantastic Four.
Every month, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald will assume the roles of Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and the Thing to recreate some of the Fantastic Four’s biggest adventures.
A Look at the First Two Issues
The first two issues, which will hit comic book stores in January and February, are based on the classic Silver Age comics FANTASTIC FOUR (1961) #3 and #51 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
The upcoming variant covers were illustrated by Andrei Bressan (Fantastic Four #28) and Paolo Mottura (Fantastic Four #29), respectively.
Earlier this year, Marvel announced that Mickey and Friends would suit up as the Fantastic Four in Marvel & Disney: What If…? Mickey & Freinds Became the Fantastic Four #1.
“As a huge FF fan myself, I can tell you this issue will tickle your nostalgic funny bone, bringing the spirit of Marvel’s first family to a story I can only describe as Funtastic!” editor Mark Paniccia shared at the time.
Now, it looks like the adventures will continue.
A Big Year For the Fantastic Four
The release of the Disney What If? Fantastic Four Homage Variant Covers will coincide with the release of Marvel Studio’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps next year.
Fantastic Four #28 will go on sale on January 22. The next installment in the series will be released on February 19.
I, for one, can’t wait!
