Disney Helps Dreams Come True at the HBCU Week Foundation College Fair
Walt Disney World held the HBCU Week Foundation College Fair this week, bringing together more than 5,000 high schoolers from 120 schools across Florida.
The HBCU Week Foundation College Fair offers students a chance to learn what is possible for their futures and meet 30+ HBCUs. The goal is to encourage high schoolers to enroll at HBCUs, provide scholarships, and create a pipeline from campus to career.

Meet Beth Elia
Among those who attended the HBCU Week Foundation College Fair was Beth Elia, who came to the event with a 4.3 GPA and the dream of becoming the first person in her family to attend college.
Thanks to the scholarships offered through the event, Beth’s dream is coming true. She received a $50,000 scholarship to Bethune-Cookman University and could not have been happier.

“I’m so excited! My mom heard about my acceptance, and she’s so proud of me. She texted me right after,” Beth said. “I don’t know who taught her how to send GIFs, but she’s been sending them back-to-back since!”
On top of being an excellent student at Evans High School in Orange County, Beth is also a student ambassador at ELEVATE Orlando. A frequent partner of Disney, the nonprofit organization helps local students build their talents and become who they imagine they can be,

As she looks ahead toward college, Beth hopes to study criminology and become an FBI agent one day. She also wants her story to inspire others in her community, including her fellow ELEVATE classmates.
Disney on the Yard
Disney on the Yard supported the amazing event at Walt Disney World. The program was initially created as a place for Cast Members who resonated with Historically Black Colleges and Universities. It has since grown to encompass the Divine Nine Black Greek fraternities and sororities and other professional organizations, institutions, and events like this college fair.
