Daisy Ridley’s Upcoming Rey Skywalker Movie Loses Another Screenwriter
Amid speculation that the film is in trouble, screenwriter Steven Knight has left Daisy Ridley’s upcoming Star Wars movie.
Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the previously announced Rey Skywalker film will be set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker and will find an older and wiser Rey attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order.

Since its announcement in 2023, the film has had a seemingly troubled production.
Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson Previously Exited
Initially, the film was to be written by Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson. In March of last year, however, the screenwriters left the project.
“The movie is still happening, but unfortunately, not with me,” Lindelof said at the time. “I wish them all the best of luck. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is an incredible director, and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with.”

Later, Lindelof revealed that he was “asked to leave” the project.
“I was in more than talks to join the Star Wars universe,” the screenwriter told Esquire. “I joined the Star Wars universe and was asked to leave.”
What Film Will Lucasfilm Release First?
While Lucasfilm has not announced a production start date for the Rey Skywalker film, Daisy Ridley previously indicated that filming could begin as early as this year.

With Knight now exiting the project, that now seems impossible.
Since Lucasfilm announced three new Star Wars movies last year, fans have speculated about the order in which the films would be released. The news that Knight is leaving the Rey Skywalker film would seemingly lend credence to the reports that James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi will be the next film released after The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Lucasfilm will now need to find yet another screenwriter for Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Star Wars film. Hopefully, we get an update soon.

Here’s a thought why not get George Lucas to help direct the film and get his ideas on how the story should go. Get A Finn and Rey romance between John and Daisy characters because they had chemistry and it was so hinted at between them in the Force Awakening and built on that in Rey’s new Star Wars movie
I would love to see George come back. Filoni has consistently said that he is welcome whenever, I’m just not sure George wants to be a part of Star Wars now that he wouldn’t have complete creative control.
