ESPN Flagship Will Include ESPN+ When it Launches Next Year
As expected, ESPN’s direct-to-consumer streaming service will launch next year and include the full slate of ESPN+ content.
ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro officially announced the news at the USC Next Level Sports Conference, which was held yesterday at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

Known internally as ESPN Flagship, the new streaming service will give customers access to all of ESPN’s linear TV programming and the streaming-exclusive content of ESPN+. A cable subscription will not be required.

As the ultimate sports-fan streaming service, ESPN Flagship is also expected to integrate ESPN Fantasy and ESPN BET. Additionally, the app will have an AI-assisted version of SportsCenter tailored to users’ preferred sports teams.
Earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Iger previewed that when users turn on ESPN Flagship to watch SportsCenter, Iger said, “It should know I’m a Knicks fan. We are actually working on that.”
What Will the Streaming Service Cost?
The big question surrounding the launch of ESPN Flagship is its price point.

Last month, media analyst Tim Nollen estimated that the streaming service would cost between $25 and $35 per month. Following a recent price increase, ESPN+ costs $11.99 per month. At that price point, ESPN Flagship would be an affordable alternative to cable for sports fans.

As the Worldwide Leader in Sports jumps head-first into the streaming era, ESPN is pulling out all the stops. With cable viewership continuing to decline, Jimmy Pitaro needs ESPN Flagship to be a success. So far, however, things seem to be going well.
