Disney World Lists Six Injuries Last Quarter
The Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (FDACS) just released its quarterly theme park injury report.
While these reports generally reflect ordinary health issues occurring at theme parks, the most recent one included an alarming crisis event.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Overall, Disney World listed six injuries last quarter, one of which may upset parents.
So, please consider this a trigger warning before we get started.
About the Facilities Report

Florida publishes the MOU Exempt Facilities Report as an act of theme park transparency.
Remember that more tourists visit Orlando than any other city in the United States.

So, government officials post this document to keep everything above board and in the public eye.
MickeyBlog dutifully analyzes the results each quarter so that fans know about any potential issues.

Here was the most recent listing from July 2024. As usual, it was a hodgepodge of random mishaps, the kind that could occur anywhere.
Typically, guests with pre-existing conditions experience symptoms like dizziness or disorientation after riding various attractions.

While you’d expect the primary offenders to be thrill rides, the reality is that it can be something as slow-moving as Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.
That speaks to how it’s usually an individual who would have experienced the same sensation anywhere. It just happened to be at a theme park.

Then, we have instances like the latest report. So, let’s talk about it.
The Report for the Second Quarter of 2024
Here are the Disney World incidents for the past three months:
- “7/22/24 The Seas with Nemo and Friends, 68 yom, guest with pre-
existing condition felt chest pain after experiencing the
attraction - 8/8/24 Space Mountain, 70 yof, guest felt motion sickness after
experiencing the attraction - 8/18/24 Tomorrowland Speedway, 79 yof, guest fell while exiting the
attraction and hit her head - 8/23/24 The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, 38 yom, guest had a seizure
after experiencing the attraction - 9/3/24 Kilimanjaro Safaris Expedition, 53 yof, guest with pre-
existing condition had a seizure after experiencing the
attraction - 9/21/24 Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, 5 yom, guest with
previously undiagnosed pre-existing condition had a cardiac
event while riding the attraction”
One of those sticks out like a sore thumb, but let’s quickly discuss the others first.
As I said, it’s generally pre-existing conditions or random stuff like someone falling down.
Then, we have things like motion sickness which will happen on cars, planes, or even theme park attractions.
During the quarter, two guests had seizures, only one of which was a pre-existing condition. So, the Aladdin report is a bit odd.

Then again, as slowly as that ride moves, it’s unlikely to have been the cause of anything.
The Scariest Incident Last Quarter

Finally, we have the September 21st incident, which just sounds terrible for everyone involved. This is your trigger warning not to read if it may upset you.
A five-year-old child suffered a cardiac event while riding one of Disney’s newest roller coasters.
Based on the phrasing, it sounds like the child’s parents learned afterward that this poor lil guy had a previously unknown condition.
So, we’re all thankful that this situation didn’t end in disaster.

We actually knew about this accident soon afterward, as People Magazine covered it in early October.
According to them, a child passed out early in a Cosmic Rewind ride and stopped breathing.

Frantically, the mother began CPR as soon as the ride ended.
Attentive Cast Members then saved the day. “Disney staff brought over an AED, a medical device that can help people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, which helped restart his heart.”
Disney transported the boy to an ER, where his condition stabilized. Then, he traveled by helicopter to another facility for further testing.
In the process, the family learned that the boy suffered from “a rare heart condition called CPVT, which causes an “irregular heart rhythm that can be life-threatening.”
So, this could have been MUCH worse if not for alert parenting, the heroic efforts of other guests in the area, and Disney’s exceptional staff training.
Also, there’s a happy ending here. The mother reports that “this warrior is already home and already asking to ride his motorcycle 😂.” Way to be tough, kid!
