Are Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Going to Host the Oscars?
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman may soon reunite. However, this time, they will be trading in their spandex suits for tuxedos.
According to a new report from Deadline, the Oscars are eyeing Marvel’s dynamic duo as potential hosts for next year’s Academy Awards ceremony.
Coming off of the unprecedented success of Deadpool & Wolverine, Jackman and Reynolds would make perfect sense as Oscars hosts. According to Deadline, the plan would be for the duo to be part of a rotating cast of hosts that could include Amy Pohler, Will Ferrell, and Dwayne Johnson.
The Choice Makes Sense
In the lead-up to the release of the third Deadpool film, Jackman and Reynolds (who are best friends in real life) proved they have the kind of banter that would play well at an award show.
Jackman previously hosted the Academy Awards in 2009 and was praised for his performance.
With the 97th Annual Academy Awards airing March 2, 2025, on ABC, there would also be synergetic reasons for tapping Reynolds and Jackman to host. The duo previously co-hosted ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this year.
Will They Accept?
While it makes sense why the Academy would want Jackman and Reynolds, it is unclear if they would accept.
With Disney and Marvel pushing for Deadpool & Wolverine to be in contention for the Oscar’s biggest awards, the viability of that candidacy could also influence the hosts’ decision.
For now, we will have to wait and see.
