The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure Show Reportedly Delayed Until 2025
Less than a year ago, Walt Disney World promised that a new show based on The Little Mermaid would arrive in 2024.
Well, I’ve got good news and bad news for you. The good news is that the show is still coming soon.

The bad news is that the soon isn’t quite as soon as we all would have hoped.
Disney just delayed The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure until 2025. Here’s what’s happening.
About The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure
Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed Voyage of the Little Mermaid in 2020, but the move wasn’t personal.
When COVID-19 shut down Walt Disney World, this attraction was one of many that didn’t reopen with the parks in July 2020.

The difference is that virtually everything else from that era gradually returned to the parks. Voyage of the Little Mermaid did not.
That wasn’t surprising in that the show-based attraction had seemingly been on the chopping block for several years.
Many insiders speculated that Disney would repurpose the space into something new.
Then, Disney officials surprised everyone in December 2023 by announcing an entirely new show, The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.

As MickeyBlog wrote at the time, management fully intended this new production to debut in the fall of 2024.
Lately, as we’ve mentioned several times, including two weeks ago, it’s now the fall of 2024…but Disney hasn’t revealed an opening date.
Now, we know why, as Disney updated their Disney Parks Blog article:
“As we continue to look forward to ‘The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios we are taking the next steps and filing permits for an all-new marquee. Work on the exterior of the building will begin soon, in preparation for the premiere of this fully reimagined show in summer 2025. We look forward to sharing more details on this exciting new experience soon.”
So, this new production is still in the pipeline. Disney has merely delayed it by about nine months.
