WATCH: Flamingos Return Home to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Following Hurricane Milton
As Walt Disney World braced for the arrival of Hurricane Milton earlier this week, it was not only guests and Cast Members who took shelter to ride out the storm.
The stars of Disney’s Animal Kingdom also left their habitats to find safety indoors, sheltering as the hurricane blew through. Heroically, the Disney Animal Care Team rode out the storm with the animals to keep them safe, caring for thousands of creatures amid a hurricane.
Dr. Mark Gives an Update
Now that Milton has come and gone and the animals have been released back into their homes, Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Sciences, and Environment took to Instagram to give fans an update and thank Disney World’s Animal Care Team. Alongside his post, Dr. Mark shared a video of flamingos being released into their habitats at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
“Thank you to our incredible professionals. Just as our cast members and guests rode out the storm during Hurricane Milton, our team of animal experts cared for the thousands of animals that call Walt Disney World home,” he wrote.

“From beautiful birds (like flamingoes 🦩) to the smallest butterflies and our family of mighty western lowland gorillas, cast members monitored conditions, kept a watchful eye on the animals and assessed and carefully removed storm debris before moving the animals back into their habitats, after the storm passed.”
Disney’s Animal Care Team Rises to the Occasion
By keeping the wide variety of critters at Disney’s Animal Kingdom safe during one of the biggest storms that Florida has seen, the Disney Animal Care Team once again proved that they are the best in the business.
The work that they do, and their dedication to Disney’s animals, is truly inspiring.
