Treats I NEVER Skip in the Disney Parks
Like other Disney adults, I’m always looking for a reason to visit Walt Disney World. Going several times a year, I try to vary my itinerary by experiencing new hotels, special events, and (of course) restaurants. It keeps the magic alive time after time.
Despite that, certain sweets, drinks, and meals pull me in like gravity. No matter when I visit, I can’t skip these goodies.
With over a dozen trips under my belt, I’d recommend these treats with total confidence. Let me share my list of “my eats” and get ready to salivate! (Prepare yourself, most are not Mickey-shaped.)
Spring Rolls – Spring Roll Wagon (Magic Kingdom)
When I had my first spring roll, I immediately went back for seconds. Eating spring rolls from the Adventureland cart should be considered a rite of passage.
If you aren’t familiar, these aren’t Chinese takeout spring rolls. These spring rolls come in flavors like pastrami, pepperoni, and cheeseburger.
It’s a delectable and convenient lunch for visitors on the go. And they’re great for a “last snack before leaving for the airport” meal. I can’t praise them enough.
Smoked Kaadu Pork Ribs – Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo (Hollywood Studios)
When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019, a Cast Member pointed me to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo for lunch. That day I had the Smoked Kaadu Pork Ribs and it’s now my go-to Hollywood Studios lunch.
These succulent pork ribs are slathered in a BBQ sauce and bread crumbs. They are messy to eat but always fall off-the-bone tender.
If you have room, the meal also comes with cabbage slaw and a moist blueberry muffin.
This meal is filling and honestly, just as delicious as most Table Service entrees (for a fraction of the price). Take my word and make this your go-to lunch too.
Caramel Butter Bar – Karamell-Küche (EPCOT World Showcase)
There is no shortage of EPCOT desserts, especially in EPCOT’s World Showcase. Gelato from Italy, crepes from France, and pastries from Norway are all sweet tooth satisfiers.
My favorite treat, however, is the decadent Caramel Butter Bar from the caramel shop in Germany. Everything in the caramel-coated dessert case is wonderful (especially the caramel apples), but this dessert is my all-time favorite.
It’s essentially a brownie, but the base is buttery shortbread, and it’s coated in thick caramel. (Sometimes there are seasonal flavors too.)
This treat is small but mighty. It’s no bigger than a lemon square, but it’s very rich. I’m always asking my husband to split one.
But no matter what I’ve had for dinner or how many festival booths I’ve snacked at, I always grab one of these caramel-coated delights.
Cheshire Cat Tail – Cheshire Café (Magic Kingdom)
Another somewhat hidden gem, the Cheshire Cat Tail pastry is a wonderful dessert or breakfast option. Nestled in a corner by the spinning tea cup ride, the Cheshire Café serves the humble treat.
With a texture like a croissant, this long pastry is drizzled in frosting and stuffed with warm chocolate. True, it’s decadent, but the size makes it manageable.
My advice? Skip the crowded Main Street U.S.A. Bakery (a.k.a. Starbucks) and instead, head here for breakfast.
You’ll savor every sugary crumb.
Cookies – Gideon’s Bakehouse (Disney Springs)
When this famed cookie chain first opened a Disney Springs location, the lines were overwhelming. It’s still popular and sometimes utilizes a virtual queue system, but it’s worth the effort.
This spooky little bakery makes half-pound cookies in a variety of flavors. Chocolate Chip, Pistachio Toffee, and monthly seasonal offerings sprinkle the mouthwatering menu.
Ever since I committed to joining Gideon’s virtual queue, I’ve never passed it up. And I’ve always come home with a minimum of six cookies. (They’re great for sharing and freeze well.)
These cookies are not, I repeat, not overhyped. Try one yourself and enjoy the pure indulgence.
Caposaldo Sweet Peach Sparkling Wine – Enoteco Castello (EPCOT World Showcase)
No foodie list is complete without an adult beverage. Disney World has lots of wonderful cocktails, especially at the EPCOT World Showcase pavilions.
Many visitors swear by the Mexico Margaritas, but my favorite beverage is found in Italia. Duck into the cozy bar, Enoteca Castello, for a glass of Italian wine.
My personal favorite is the Caposaldo Sweet Peach Sparkling Wine. It’s the perfect nightcap to enjoy watching the fireworks.
For the sweetest buzz, consider this bubbly treat. Salute!
Honorable Mention – All Ice Cream Treats (Animal Kingdom)
While this isn’t a specific recommendation, I have never skipped ice cream at the Animal Kingdom. Whether it’s a dole whip, a specialty soft serve cone, or a prepackaged Mickey ice cream sandwich, ice cream is a non-negotiable snack.
Why? Because it’s always (and I mean always) hot there. The lush foliage makes the entire park feel like a greenhouse.
While this is wonderful for the animals, it can be overwhelming for human visitors. That’s why I always need at least one ice cream treat to power through the day. I suggest everyone do the same.
I hope that at least one of these suggestions made your mouth water! I wish you many wonderful (and delicious) repeat visits to Disney World.
