WATCH: The First Trailer For the Scrapped Disney+ Series ‘Nautilus’ Has Arrived
Roughly one year after Disney+ unceremoniously dumped Nautilus before the show even got a chance to air, the series has found a home on Prime Video in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
As a quick recap, Disney+ originally commissioned Nautilus in 2021. The series was set to serve as a prequel to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, giving audiences a glimpse into Captain Nemo’s origin story.

Starring Shazat Latif as the legendary sea captain, the show described Nemo as “an Indian Prince robbed of his birthright and family, a prisoner of the East India Mercantile Company, and a man bent on revenge against the forces that have taken everything from him.”
Disney+ Dumped the Series in 2023
Although production on Nautilus was complete, in August 2023, Disney+ canceled the series as part of a larger shift in the company’s streaming strategy.
While fans were initially concerned that Nautilus would never see the light of day, that did not turn out to be the case.

Last October, AMC announced that it had acquired Nautilus’s rights in the United States. Subsequently, Amazon Prime Video secured the rights to the series in the UK and Ireland.
