WATCH: Timothée Chalamet Performs as Bob Dylan in the First ‘A Complete Unknown’ Trailer
On December 25, 2024, fans will be reintroduced to Bob Dylan’s story when A Complete Unknown hits theaters.
The upcoming film, directed by James Mangold, will tell the story of Bob Dylan’s rise from obscurity and his transformation into perhaps the most influential musician ever.

“New York, early 1960s. Against the backdrop of a vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval, an enigmatic 19-year-old from Minnesota arrives in the West Village with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music,” the film’s synopsis reads.
“As he forms his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, makes a controversial choice that culturally reverberates worldwide.”

A Complete Unknown will star Timothée Chalamet as Dylan. He will be joined in the film by a star-studded cast that includes Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz, Eriko Hatsune, Big Bill Morgenfield, Will Harrison, and Scoot McNairy.

Ahead of the film’s release, Disney has released a trailer for A Complete Unknown. The clip gives audiences their first opportunity to see Chalamet embody Dylan and sing.

The trailer introduces Dylan as an obscure 19-year-old from Minisotta who arrives in New York. As Chalamet performs “Girl from the North Country,” other scenes include Dylan’s partnership with Joan Baez, his friendship with Johnny Cash, and the infamous moment he “went electric” at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. The trailer also features Chalamet performing “Like a Rolling Stone.”
