Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy Is Officially CLOSED
Another chapter in the history of Disney’s Hollywood Studios came to an end yesterday when Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy was performed for the final time at Sunset Showcase.
Originally opening on March 31, 2019, as part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ 30th anniversary celebration, the show let fans get up close and personal with seven-time Piston Cup winner Lightning McQueen!
While the famous race car was anxious to show off his best movies, his presentation was foiled by Chick Hicks.
Eventually, Lightning and Hicks had to settle things with a virtual simulator race.
A New Disney Villains Show Is on the Way
While never the most popular attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy was a charming show and a great attraction for Cars fans.
Unfortunately for the attraction’s fans, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy has officially closed to make way for the new Disney Villains show coming to Sunset Showcase.
The Latest From Sunset Showcase
We stopped by the Sunset Boulevard locale this morning to check things out.
As you can see, the Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy entrance has been roped off and is no longer accessible to guests.
Outside of that, however, not much else has changed.
When Will the New Villains Show Open?
At this time, Disney has not announced an official opening date for the new Disney Villains show.
They have, however, teased that the new production will open next year!
Hopefully, then, Disney will begin the transformation of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy soon, and we will see the villain’s show open sooner rather than later!
As always, be sure to check back with MickeyBlog. We will continue to update you on all the news coming out of Walt Disney World.
