Ewan McGregor Says Disney Is “Exploring” Ideas For ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Season 2
While Lucasfilm has been fairly adamant that Obi-Wan Kenobi will not be returning for a second season, Ewan McGregor is giving fans new hope.
The last time we checked in on the progress of a theoretical second season of the Star Wars streaming series, Disney had released a physical media release of the show’s first season, labeling it “Obi-Wan Kenobi: The Complete Series.”
The release seemed to be definitive proof that Obi-Wan Kenobi was not coming back.
Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, prospects of an Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 have seemingly been brought back from the dead.
Ewan McGregor’s Latest Comments
During a recent appearance at LA Comic Con, Ewan McGregor revealed that he still wants to continue Kenobi’s story. According to IGN, the Star Wars legend began by saying “we’re definitely hoping” to make more of the show. He then stopped himself. He then pivoted, saying, “‘Exploring’ that would be the word to say.”
When asked what he would want to see in a second season of the series, McGregor discussed filming flashback scenes from the Clone Wars, perhaps even featuring Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. The crowd erupted in cheers.
Even outside of the Clone Wars, McGregor believes there are more stories to be told.

“Obviously, between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s got to be another few stories in there,” he said.
Does Disney+ Need More ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’?
This is not the first time that McGregor has stated that he wants to continue Obi-Wan Kenobi. It is, however, perhaps the closest the actor has come to hinting that something could be in motion.
As we have discussed before, with The Mandalorian making the jump to the big screen and The Acolyte canceled after just one season, the future of Star Wars streaming is clouded.

Perhaps then, despite Kathleen Kennedy’s previous statements, we will see Obi-Wan Kenobi return after all.
