BREAKING: Disney World Announces Park Closures Ahead of Hurricane Milton
In case you missed it, Hurricane Milton is headed toward Central Florida.
We’ve been reporting on the massive Category 5 hurricane that has led to Disney Cruise Line canceling a Wish sailing, the Orlando and Tampa airports closing, and more.
While Disney World did pause hotel reservations on October 9 and 10 and temporarily waived its cancelation policy, they had yet to announce any park closures — until now.
Disney World Will Close October 9
First, Disney World just announced that all four parks will be undergoing a phased closing process on Wednesday, October 9:
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1PM
- Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney Springs will close at 2PM
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf, and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will be closed on October 9.
At the time of writing, it looks like the parks and Disney Springs will most likely be closed for the entirety of Thursday, October 10, 2024. Disney did share that they “will consider opening Disney Springs Thursday late afternoon with limited offerings.”
The October 10th Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will canceled and event tickets will be refunded.
Disney World transportation will stop operating on October 9 after Disney Springs and the parks close.
Minnie Vans and Mears taxi services will be available on a limited basis for Disney World guests.
As we previously reported, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will close beginning at 11AM on October 9.
They will likely remain closed until Sunday, October 13.
Hurricane Milton is expected to arrive in the Orlando area early Thursday morning.
As of the time of writing, Disney has waived change and cancelation fees from October 6 through 14, 2024, so if you have an upcoming trip and you’re interested in rescheduling, make sure you contact Disney.
