Orlando & Tampa Airports Ceasing Operations Due to Hurricane Milton
There is currently a Category 5 hurricane on its way to Florida — Hurricane Milton. The storm is expected to make landfall in the middle of this week.
Disney is already monitoring the situation and we could see closures later this week, but as of right now, the only closures we’re seeing have to do with the airports in Florida. Let’s take a look.
Florida Airport Closures
Orlando International Airport has announced that it will cease commercial operations on Wednesday morning due to Hurricane Milton. The exact time has not been determined yet, but the airport tweeted that it would share that information as soon as it knows.
Operational Update/3 – Hurricane Milton
Our airport will cease commercial operations on Wednesday morning, in advance of Hurricane Milton. This move was made in coordination with our partners. We will resume commercial operations as soon as it is safe.

This means that the airport is not technically closed, as it will remain open to accept emergency/aid and relief flights as necessary. But, if you’re just a regular person trying to fly into or out of the airport on Wednesday, you will not be able to.
Tampa International Airport will be closing due to the hurricane at 9AM on Tuesday (tomorrow). Hurricane Milton is expected to hit on the western side of Florida, so Tampa will likely see a larger impact compared to Orlando, which is probably the reason for the earlier closure.
