Just hours after Hurricane Milton was officially designated as a Category 3 hurricane, the storm has continued to strengthen and reached Category 4 status.
This morning, at 9:00 AM ET, the National Hurricane Center released an update designating Milton as a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds estimated to be 150 mph.
Data from Hurricane Hunter aircraft also indicated that the minimum pressure has fallen to 940 mb (27.76 inches).

Based on the latest maps, the hurricane would impact Central Florida and Walt Disney World on Thursday morning. Previous projections had Milton impacting Disney World on Wednesday.
Disney Has Already Taken Multiple Precautions
Disney has already taken numerous precautions in preparation for Hurricane Milton.
Yesterday, the resort announced it was pausing hotel reservations for Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10. Park pass reservations and new ticket sales have also been blocked for Wednesday.
Additionally, the resort is waiving all hotel cancellation and change fees for guests with reservations through Saturday, October 12.

An update on the Walt Disney World website still indicates that the resort is operating under normal conditions, but Disney is monitoring the situation.
“Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected storm as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members,” the update reads.
Will Disney World Close?
With Florida Governor Ron DeSantis officially declaring a state of emergency and the latest weather maps indicating that Walt Disney World is in Milton’s path, the resort will likely close in some capacity on Wednesday and Thursday.
