Disney Announces First Resort Closures Ahead of Hurricane Milton
With Hurricane Milton heading towards Florida, Walt Disney World has announced its first set of closures.
Earlier today, the National Hurricane Center officially categorized Milton as a Category 5 storm. In preparation for the hurricane, Disney World has taken several precautions over the past two days. Yesterday, the resort announced it was pausing hotel reservations for Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10. Additionally, park pass reservations have been blocked for Wednesday.
Disney has also stated that it is waving change and cancelation fees for guests with check-in dates from Monday, October 6, through Saturday, October 12. Until this afternoon, however, no closures had been announced.

Now, in preparation for Milton’s impact, Disney has announced select resort closings. Here is the latest.
Fort Wilderness, the Treehouse Villas, and Copper Creek Cabins Are Closing
Beginning at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 9, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, the Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close.

The Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are expected to reopen on Friday, October 11.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, however, will be closed through Sunday, October 13.

It is important to note that the reopening dates are tentative and subject to change. Guests are encouraged to visit DisneyWorld.com/Weather for the latest information.
The Latest on Hurricane Milton
Based on the current forecasts, Hurricane Milton will impact Walt Disney World late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
While Disney has yet to announce a broad closure of Walt Disney World, based on the current prognostications, it seems fairly inevitable.
