‘Star Wars Reads’ Kicks Off Its Month-Long Initiative With Livestream Events, Book Donations, and Activity Kits
With the calendar officially reading “October,” Lucasfilm has announced the return of Star Wars Reads!
The month-long reading initiative was launched in 2011 as a way to honor the magic of reading through a commitment to inspiring the next generation of storytellers and innovators.

A collaboration between Disney Publishing and Lucasfilm, past Star Wars Reads activities have included book giveaways, illustrator demonstrations, and activity kits.
‘Star Wars Reads’ 2024 Plans
This year, Star Wars Reads is teaming up with First Book, a non-profit organization “dedicated to building a world where every child has access to a quality education.”
According to the organization, this year’s activities will focus on supporting under-resourced communities. This will include book donations, classroom resources, and activity kits. Disney VoluntEARS and Star Wars authors will also support the organization.

To kick off the Star Wars Reads festivities, Lucasfilm Publishing and First Book will be hosting a live stream event with First Book’s Network of educators. The event will include learning activities and a virtual class visit from authors Charles Soule and Rosemary Soule.
Finally, Disney Publishing will also donate 60,00 books around the country!
