WATCH: The First Trailer For ‘Music by John Williams’ Has Arrived
After a limited theatrical run, Music by John Williams, a new documentary examining the life and career of film’s greatest composer, will premiere on Disney+.
The result of a partnership between Lucasfilm Lt, Amblin Documentaries, and Imagine Documentaries, the film will give fans a peek into John Williams’s mind as he reflects on his storied career.

Music by John Williams will begin by covering the composer’s early days as a jazz pianist and continue through his legendary career that led to 54 Oscar nominations and five wins.
“This Was an Important Story to Tell”
Directed by Laurent Bouzereau, the documentary will cover many of Willams’s iconic scores, including his work on Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter.
“Growing up in France, I discovered the soundtracks I bought on vinyl ahead of most American movies that would come out months after the U.S. release. John Williams was the composer I immediately identified with; his scores made me fall in love with music. It made me realize at a very young age, the power that a score had on cinematic storytelling,” said Bouzereau.

“This was an important story to tell, not only because it is about one of the greatest composers of all time. But because of the message it carries about the survival of orchestral music and musicians.”

The Music of John Williams will premiere as the opening film of the 38th AFI Fest on October 23. The following day, advanced theatrical tickets will be available for purchase. The documentary will have a limited theatrical release in New York, Los Angeles, and London on November 1, the same day it premieres on Disney+.
