The First Four ‘Indiana Jones’ Films Have Been Removed From Disney+
In the lead-up to last year’s release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Disney slowly but surely added the four previous Indiana Jones films to the Disney+ library.
The addition of the Indiana Jones films was facilitated by a deal between Disney and Paramount Pictures, which owned the distribution rights to the movies.
While the Indiana Jones franchise technically became Disney property, when the company purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, Paramount Pictures retained the distribution rights to Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and even 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
However, prior to the release of Dial of Destiny, Disney and Paramount reached an agreement that allowed the films to stream on Disney+ for a limited time. From the looks of things, that deal has come to an end.
Disney Has Previously Taken Heat For Purging Content
Recently, Disney has been under fire for unexpectedly removing dozens of titles from the Disney+ and Hulu libraries. The content purge at the end of Disney’s financial year and the decision to remove them was based on financial reasons.
That is not the case with the Indiana Jones films.
Where to Stream the ‘Indiana Jones’ Films
With the first four Indiana Jones films no longer on Disney+, they are currently unavailable to stream. While it seems likely that the movies will find a new streaming home, fans will have to see where Paramount decides to license them next.
In the meantime, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny remains available on Disney+. For now, that will have to tide Indy fans over.
