Resort President Jeff Vahle Celebrates 53 Years of Walt Disney World
On this day in 1971, Walt Disney World officially opened to the public, fulfilling Walt’s dream of completing the Florida Project.
More than just a theme park, Disney World introduced us to the Vacation Kingdom, a place infused with Disney magic where anything was possible.
For the last 53 years, Walt Disney World has been the setting for our biggest adventures, fondest memories, and most important celebrations. It is a place where family, friends, and strangers alike have lost themselves in a world where time stands still, stories come to life, and magic happens every day.
Jeff Vahle Celebrates Disney World’s Anniversary
To commemorate this occasion in Disney World history, resort president Jeff Vahle took to Instagram to tell the story of the Most Magical Place on Earth through a series of pictures of Cinderella Castle.
“With today being the 53rd anniversary of Magic Kingdom and @WaltDisneyWorld, I thought it would be fun to look back on the evolution of one of the most recognizable spots around: Cinderella Castle,” he wrote.
The collection of photos begins with Mickey Mouse looking over blueprints for Walt Disney World, continues through the castle’s construction, and ends in the modern day.

“For over half a century, this place has been a source of joy, hope and inspiration. To all our Cast Members and Guests – past, present and future – thank you for being part of our story. Our next chapter is sure to be the best!” Vahle concluded his post.
Disney World Enters Its 54th Year
As Vahle’s pictures show, Walt Disney World has changed over the past 54 years. What has not changed, however, is that the resort is still the Most Magical Place on Earth.
