NEWS: Port Canaveral Has Temporarily Ceased Operations Due to Hurricane Helene
Hurricane Helene is heading toward Florida and is forecasted to make landfall tonight. The potential impacts of the hurricane have initiated a shift in operations throughout Florida–including Disney World.
Disney temporarily closed their water parks and miniature golf courses today, September 26th, and canceled tonight’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. But now, Port Canaveral has ceased operations until further notice, potentially affecting the Disney Cruise Line.
Port Canaveral Closure
Port Canaveral announced its own closure on X, specifying that operations have ceased until further notice:
PORT CANAVERAL AT CONDITION “ZULU” DUE TO HURRICANE HELENE: The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) has set hurricane condition “ZULU” for Port Canaveral: Port Canaveral is closed and has ceased all waterside and vessel shoreside Port operations until further notice.… pic.twitter.com/UVjt0HTjQw

What does this mean for the Disney Cruise Line? Well, the Disney Fantasy is currently at sea, with the itinerary being hit by several changes due to the storm. So far, the ship has skipped the stop at Grand Cayman–as its Port also closed–and went to the next destination in Jamaica instead.
The ship is set to arrive at Port Canaveral this Saturday, September 28th. This should (hopefully) not be affected by Hurricane Helene; however, the ship’s arrival depends on the reopening of the Port, which has yet to be announced.
Additionally, the Disney Wish is delaying its arrival to Port Canaveral. The ship will now arrive on Friday, September 27th, later than originally scheduled.
We’ll keep an eye on the hurricane and its impact on Disney’s operations, and keep you updated with the latest.
