Typhoon Lagoon To Close on Thursday As Hurricane Helene Draws Near
Things are about to get wet and wild in Disney World, and not in the way you’d hope.
Earlier today, The National Weather Service upgraded Tropical Storm Helene to Hurricane Helene.
Helene is expected to reach landfall tomorrow as a Category 3 hurricane somewhere along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Currently, 61 of Florida’s 67 counties are under a State of Emergency. This includes Orange County and Osceola County, which are both home to portions of Walt Disney World.
According to Disney World’s Weather Updates & Information page, Disney World is currently operating as usual.
However, it seems preparations are underway as Central Florida braces for the impending storm.
In its first major response to Hurricane Helene, Disney has preemptively closed Typhoon Lagoon for tomorrow, September 26th, 2024.
Typhoon Lagoon To Close on Thursday Due To Hurricane Helene
On an average day in Disney World, Typhoon Lagoon is the PERFECT place for some fun in the sun.
The immersively themed water park boasts fun-filled family water slides, a wave pool, and a relaxing lazy river.
But guests hoping to visit this week may have disappointment in store.
Due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Helene, Typhoon Lagoon will be closed on Thursday, September 26th.
As of the time of writing, Typhoon Lagoon remains open on Wednesday, September 25th…
…and is scheduled to re-open on Friday, September 27th.
Hurricane Helene is likely to bring heavy rainfall, hurricane-force winds, and even tornadoes to Central Florida. When it comes to severe weather, it’s always smart to play it safe.
More Disney World Closures
At the moment, all four Disney parks will still offer hours on Thursday. However, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf will also be closed tomorrow.
Located near Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, the pair of mini golf courses typically offer a quiet respite from the hubbub of the parks.
