Seven Reasons You’ll Love the Disney Destiny
The Disney Destiny technically won’t embark on its maiden voyage for more than a year.
You know how cruise ships work, though! As of September 2024, you can officially book a vacation on Disney Cruise Line’s crown jewel!
As someone who works hard and strives to be a good person, you deserve to take a cruise like this, too!
So, I’m going to list several reasons why you should treat yourself to a dream vacation on a Disney cruise.
Here are seven reasons why you’ll love the Disney Destiny.
The Wakanda-Inspired Grand Hall
Black Panther has inspired a generation of movie lovers, and much of the credit belongs to the fictional country at the forefront.
You can enter any room and say, “Wakanda forever!” Several people will reply in kind, and some might even make hand gestures.
We love the characters of Black Panther, but the futuristic locale is even more inspiring.
That’s why Disney Cruise Line (DCL) has chosen Wakanda as the basis for the Grand Hall on the Disney Destiny.
You’ll recognize this as soon as you enter the area, as the most impressive feature is a statue honoring T’Challa.
So, in a way, Disney has permanently immortalized actor Chadwick Boseman, a decision I treasure.
This choice is fitting for a second reason, as Marvel characters like Black Panther and Spider-Man provide a constant presence on the ship.
That’s fitting since the overall theme of the Disney Destiny is heroes and villains.
I just use Occam’s Razor, though. Wakanda is an ideal choice because it’s so freakin’ shiny!
The Cruella de Vil Lounge
Throw on your finest furs and head to Disney’s darkest lounge ever.
Sure, you might instinctively think that a Haunted Mansion lounge would win that honor…but no!
Cruella de Vil, the bane of fur babies everywhere, will hold court at a lounge on the Disney Destiny.
So, we know where some of the ship’s villains will grab a drink.
And if you have any support animals, I…wouldn’t bring them here.
Hook’s Barbery
You’ll take plenty of pictures while you’re on vacation. So, you’ll want to look your best.
Alas, you may not find the free time in the days leading up to your vacation to, as my wife likes to call it, “get your hair did.”
If that’s the case, fear not! You can do it while you’re on the cruise ship!
When the Disney Wish debuted, DCL introduced Hook’s Barbery, a place for everyone to get a haircut and, if applicable, a shave.
Cruise enthusiasts delight in one of the secrets of Hook’s barbery!
You’ll find a hidden bar here! So, you’ll feel like you’ve snuck off to the tunnel bar during the prohibition era.
The combination makes perfect sense. Hook would want some rum while he does something as mundane as a haircut.
The Sanctum
As you can tell, themed lounges embody the new wave of DCL entertainment options.
You can relax and nurture a beverage while embedded in the familiar settings of Disney intellectual properties.
This particular lounge features a Doctor Strange theme, meaning it looks like the Sanctum Santorum from Marvel movies.
You’ll find countless paranormal trinkets here, although I wouldn’t recommend that you fiddle with any of them. That’s precisely how Dr. Strange got his third eye! Remember this?
So, drink as much as you like, but you should keep your hands to yourself.
Spectacular Broadway Musicals
Captain Minnie Mouse wants you to enjoy your time on her mighty vessel, the Disney Destiny.
To guarantee that you’re receiving world-quality service, Minnie has put her adorable mouse finger on the scale.
The Destiny hosts nightly entertainment that is worthy of the Broadway stage.
If you were to visit New York City, you’d pay hundreds or sometimes even thousands of dollars to watch such shows.
However, you can watch them for free during your cruise! And the Destiny will host two different shows!
Frozen, A Musical Spectacular tells the story you know and love, the one starring Anna and Elsa.
This hour-long show will stun you with its detail and leave you humming for hours afterward.
If you don’t believe me, you can watch the whole thing here. Disney posted this clip during the pandemic:
Skip to the 25-minute mark if you want to Let It Go.
Remarkably, the other performance is arguably even better. Captain Minnie and her friends will put on a show for you!
Disney Seas the Adventure debuted on the Disney Wish and promptly became a fan favorite. You can watch some of it here:
Again, both these shows are free with a cruise booking! So, you’ll want to make time for both during your cruise.
Worlds of Marvel Featuring Rocket and Groot
By now, I’ll presume you’re at least somewhat familiar with Rotational Dining and the Worlds of Marvel show.
The Disney Wish featured Quantum Encounter, a technically impressive mini-movie starring many familiar faces from the MCU.
The Disney Destiny will up the ante with a show starring two of the most popular Marvel characters right now: Groot and Rocket Raccoon.
We all want to watch a mini-movie starring that duo, right? Also, it might be the last Guardians of the Galaxy content we get for a while.
So, you’ll unlock a special bonus treat by taking a cruise and utilizing Rotational Dining!
The Destiny Tower Suite
Okay, the reality is that few of us will ever enter this suite, much less stay in it. Still, I feel I must mention the Destiny Tower Suite.
Disney figured out the ultimate theme for the Destiny’s most expensive suite: You’re Tony Stark!
Okay, you won’t get an Arc Reactor in your chest or anything like that (thank goodness), but you’ll feel like a billionaire playboy!
That’s because DCL has decked out this suite as a luxury space that only the Bruce Waynes and Tony Starks of the world can afford!
Thankfully, the price is low enough that it’s not just for those of us who are Bezos-level rich.
According to Disney, “This Marvel-inspired penthouse will honor Iron Man with a luxurious take on the sleek, industrial designs of Tony Stark.
“Set high in the ship’s forward funnel, this one-of-a-kind suite will offer incredible views of the top deck and beyond through an expansive two-story window and nearly 2,000 square feet of living space.”
I presume that J.A.R.V.I.S. is sold separately, but I’m not even certain about that.
Anyway, anyone who can afford to book the penthouse suite on the Disney Destiny will have the time of their life!
