Currently, 61 of Florida’s 67 counties are under a State of Emergency. This includes Orange County and Osceola County, which are each home to a portion of Walt Disney World.
While Helene was previously predicted to make landfall as a Category 3 Hurricane, the National Hurricane Center now predicts the hurricane to arrive in Florida as a Category 4 storm.

With Hurricane Helene expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast sometime tomorrow, Disney World is preparing with a series of closures, including Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, miniature golf courses, and Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom.

Disney has also canceled several tours and Enchanting Extras experiences, including Savor the Savanna, Up Close With Rhinos, Walking with Giants, and Wild Africa Trek in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Hurricane Helene
Based on its projected tropical storm winds, Hurricane Helene is already expected to be one of the largest storms in the Gulf of Mexico. “This is a life-threatening situation,” the National Hurricane Center said.

Stormy Weather in Magic Kingdom
Category 4 hurricanes typically include heavy rainfall, winds of 131-155 mph, and storm surge of 13-18 feet above normal tide. As such, Florida will likely see power outages and significant damage to trees, shrubs, and buildings.

At the time of writing, Disney World is operating (mostly) as normal, with Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios still open for tomorrow, September 26th.
