PTC-9 Officially Turns into Tropical Storm Helene
Central Floridians woke up to new weather updates and details this morning, and the info is already quickly evolving.
This morning, the National Hurricane Center‘s latest update stated that potential Tropical Cyclone Nine was expected to form into a hurricane this week. The center had also issued Hurricane and Storm Surge Watches for parts of Florida.

The National Hurricane Center said the system, formerly known as Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine, has officially developed into a tropical storm.
The storm is located in the Caribbean Sea and is approaching the Gulf of Mexico, forming around the area of low pressure.

Helen is expected to turn into a major hurricane and strike Florida by Thursday. Hurricane watches are issued along the Gulf Coast, and more are likely to follow in the following hours and days.

The storm is predicted to be large and powerful, with impacts potentially reaching Atlanta. Florida Governor Rick DeSantis has already declared a state of emergency for 61 counties and is urging residents to be prepared and informed.
