Dick Van Dyke Looks Upbeat and Cheerful Amid Fan Concerns About His Health
When the news broke yesterday that Dick Van Dyke had canceled a planned appearance at the FanX event in Salt Lake City, fans were understandably worried.
After all, the 98-year-old Hollywood legend had also been noticeably absent from the 2024 Primetime Emmys ceremony earlier this month, where he had been previously announced as a presenter. After canceling two high-profile appearances in a row, many grew concerned about the state of Van Dyke’s health.
When announcing that Van Dyke would not be attending FanX, organizers released a brief statement saying:

“[Van Dyke] expresses his gratitude to all of those who continue to support him but, at almost 99 years of age, traveling and interacting with thousands of people is more than he is able to do at this time.”
While the explanation made perfect sense, fans continued to worry.
Van Dyke Seems Cheerful and Healthy
Luckily, that consternation seems to have been for naught.

Just hours after it was announced that Van Dyke had canceled another public appearance, the New York Post received a video of the legendary actor out and about.
When asked how he was feeling, Van Dyke smiled and quipped, “I feel old.”

While the actor did not dive into the reasons for his Emmys absence, he seemed cheerful and healthy.
Van Dyke’s Birthday Plans
Finally, when asked if he had any big plans for his 99th birthday in December, Van Dyke paused before joking, “Just praying that I make it.”
