Make-A-Wish Child Madison Takes a Magical Trip to Disney World and Meets Patrick Dempsey!
Since 1980, The Walt Disney Company and Make-A-Wish have teamed up to grant more than 155,000 wishes for children with critical illnesses worldwide.
These wishes have included one-of-a-kind experiences, Disney makeovers, dream vacations, shopping sprees, and more. Historically, one out of every two wishes granted in the United States has been a Disney wish.
With that in mind, I want to introduce you to Madison Charland, a Make-A-Wish child from Biddeford, Maine.
Madison’s Story
Madison was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 10 months old. Now three, Madison’s cancer is in remission, but it has been a long road. In January, however, the young girl’s wish came true when she visited the CBS13/FOX2 studio.
There, anchor Katie Sampson asked her where she would go if she could go anywhere in the world.
“Disney!” she yelled.
One month later, Madison was off on a magical journey to Walt Disney World. When asked how the trip went, Madison exclaimed, “I see Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, and Tigger.”
As it turns out, the trip to Disney World wasn’t the only surprise in store for Madison.
Meeting Patrick Dempsey
She also got the chance to meet with Maine native Patrick Dempsey.
Both the actor and the Charland family were all smiles as they posed for pictures and chatted.
All in all, it was a magical experience for Madison and her family. The full video of the encounter can be seen at Fox32 Maine.
