Former Disney Communications Executive Zenia Mucha Is Taking Over Marketing at TikTok
Former Disney communications chief Zenia Mucha is moving up the ranks at TikTok and will now oversee the company’s global marketing.
According to a new report from the Information, TikTok’s current head of marketing will exit at the end of September. Mucha will assume her new responsibilities beginning on Monday.
A Storied Disney Career
During her 22-year tenure at Disney, Mucha led the communication and positioning strategy for the company’s strategic business initiatives. These included the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 21st Century Fox. She also oversaw the launch of D23, the official Disney fan club.
She also oversaw initiatives in digital technology to connect consumers to creative content in new ways and led the communications strategy surrounding the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort.
Mucha’s New Responsibilities at TikTok
Mucha joined TikTok last year as the company’s chief brand and communications officer. As she prepares to assume even more responsibilities, Mucha wrote a memo to staff explaining the organizational restructuring.
“Together, we decided the best way to achieve this vision is to remove the Head of Global Marketing role,” Mucha wrote, “and bring everyone within Global Brand & Comms under one leader, aligning our work and goals toward one comprehensive vision.”
With her decades of experience at Disney, Mucha will now push TikTok into a new, unprecedented era.
