Josh Gad Has One Regret About Voicing Olaf in ‘Frozen’
Josh Gad has had a storied acting career encompassing television, movies, and Broadway. For most fans, however, the actor will always be best known for voicing Olaf in Disney’s Frozen franchise.
While Gad has largely embraced his inner snowman and reveled in the joy that he has brought to millions of fans, there is one thing that the actor wishes he had done differently.
Here is the story.
Gad’s One Regret
During a recent appearance at Fan Expo Canada, Gad revealed that if he could change one thing about his most famous role, he would not have used his real voice to bring Olaf to life.
“If I could do it all over again,” he said (you can view his answer on this TikTok), “I would not have lent that snowman my voice. I would have created a different voice.”
As the voice of one of the most iconic Disney characters, Gad has found that he cannot go anywhere without being recognized.
“It’s very weird being in a supermarket and having a little child go like this,” he said while turning his head. “That was my first big mistake.”
Olaf Isn’t Going Anywhere
While Gad perhaps wishes he had a little more anonymity, the actor is still thankful to all the fans who have made Olaf so popular.
“I try to give it to them when I can,” he explained.
With Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 currently in development, Gad’s time as Olaf will seemingly continue indefinitely. It is a good thing the actor has gotten used to being recognized because droves of new fans will soon be introduced to the snowman who loves summer.
